Sharp Slate

DraftKings Optimizer

Betting markets know more than DraftKings does.

Sharp Slate uses that edge to build optimal DFS lineups.

The Core Idea

Daily Fantasy Sports platforms like DraftKings assign every player a salary based on recent performance, public popularity, and matchup data. But these salaries are slow to adjust and heavily influenced by casual player sentiment — the same forces that make sportsbooks profitable.

Betting markets, by contrast, are shaped by sharp money. Oddsmakers and the bettors who move lines have strong financial incentives to get probabilities right. That makes betting lines — win probabilities, game totals, spreads — among the most accurate real-time assessments of player and team performance available anywhere.

Exploiting Market Inefficiencies

When a player's DraftKings salary doesn't reflect what the betting market implies about their expected output, an inefficiency exists. A player priced cheaply on DraftKings who the betting market gives a high win probability is undervalued — you're getting more projected production per dollar than you should be.

Sharp Slate systematically identifies these gaps. By anchoring projections in betting-market probabilities rather than public perception, the optimizer surfaces players whose DraftKings price hasn't caught up with their true expected value.

How the Optimizer Works

For each event, projected point totals are derived from publicly available gambling lines. These projections are fed into an optimizer that solves for the highest projected-point lineup within DraftKings' salary cap constraints.

The result is a single optimal lineup — the combination of players that maximizes expected DFS output given the market's implied probabilities. That lineup is published here before competition begins so you can enter it directly into DraftKings.

Sports Coverage

Sharp Slate currently covers Tennis, with F1 and UFC coming soon. Each sport has its own optimizer calibrated to DraftKings' scoring system and salary cap for that slate type.

Lineups are updated each event week. Check back before each slate locks for the latest optimal lineup and full player pool projections.
